100 sewing workshops against the Coronavirus

On the initiative of the Makutano Network and the UNDP, around a hundred sewing workshops in Kinshasa were called upon to offer their services for the manufacture of protective masks in large quantities.

This operation was aimed in particular at supporting the activity of the capital’s sewing workshops and saving the jobs of the women who work there. This remarkable task force also made it possible to provide, free of charge, more than 20,000 masks for the most disadvantaged. The fabric and elastic needed to make the masks were pre-financed, and the masks are bought from the workshops by the organisation before being redistributed.
