The Congolese network Makutano offers a "new-generation" business forum where Africans strive to be key players in their own economy. Makutano thus sets itself apart from protocol-driven, folkloric gatherings tinged with an Afro-optimism devoid of reflection-action and transformative projects.

The seventh edition of Makutano – Mak7, scheduled for 7 & 8 December, will take place against a very particular backdrop marked by the resurgence of the COVID-19 pandemic, with the emergence of the Omicron variant making the news. Moreover, MAK7 is being held almost a month after COP26, which was largely galvanized by the energy transition and net-zero emissions commitments. It is also in this particular context that African stakeholders are working to make the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) effective. MAK7 aims to be an opportunity for "out of the box" reflection and action on these themes in order to break away from the beaten track and bring innovative and, if need be, disruptive solutions.

To this end, MAK7 intends to give the main players of the business world, political decision-makers, and young and female entrepreneurs of the DRC and the rest of the Continent a space for candid exchange and discussion through panels, including one at the presidential level.

Makutano firmly believes in the imperative of instilling a new mindset among stakeholders for a DRC and an Africa determined to face multiple challenges and seize development opportunities. While people come to Makutano first and foremost to discuss business with various African and overseas partners, it should be noted that, in parallel, exchanges with political decision-makers, businessmen and businesswomen, and experts during the round tables and thematic plenaries are also on the menu. Furthermore, these moments of reflection and exchange are punctuated by festive sequences reflecting the cultural richness of the continent.
