As part of the commemoration of the independence of the DRC, the Makutano network organised a webinar on the country's economic independence, which was attended by:

  • Mr Christian OTCHIA, PhD, Associate Professor at Nagoya University (Japan);
  • Mr Jean-Marc KILOLO, PhD, Professor at the Protestant University of Congo and at the National Pedagogical University (DRC), Economist at the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (Cameroon);
  • Ms Raïssa MALU, Director of the non-profit organisation Investing in People (DRC);
  • Mr José MANOKA, MBA, Vice-President in charge of business development for the banking, funding & financing business line of a Luxembourg bank (Luxembourg).

Under the moderation of Mr André NYEMBWE and Mr Anthony NKINZO, the analysis carried out by the speakers focused in particular on the question of financing the economy through international capital markets, on the question of the conduct of national industrial policy, and on the question of human capital and technology transfer. The discussions also led to recommendations, set out at the end of each section.
