BUILDING A FACTORY OF INDUSTRIAL CHAMPIONS IN THE DRC

Webinar of 18 July 2020

As part of the first of the Makutano Sixtieth Anniversary Webinars, 4 international experts including Kako Nubukpo, macroeconomist (Togo), Paulo Gomes, co-founder of New African Capital Partners (Guinea-Bissau), Eric Kacou, economist, co-founder of ESC Partners (Côte d’Ivoire) and Nicolas Kazadi, Roving Ambassador of the President of the Republic (DR Congo), analysed the state of Congolese industry by setting out the constraints that hold back its expansion, the opportunities that could drive its development and the challenges that represent actions to be taken in the short and long term to enable the country, namely the DRC,
to have its own “factory of champions”.

This debate was moderated by 3 Congolese CEOs, namely Yves Kabongo, CEO of KBG Capital, Marlène Ngoy Mvidia, Managing Director of BGFI Bank, and Eric Monga, President of the FEC/Katanga, CEO of Trade Services and developer of the Kipay dam. And at the close of these discussions, everyone’s ideas were organised into points so as to make it easier to understand the problems of Congolese industry and the prerequisites to be considered in practical terms to facilitate its emergence.
