Webinar: how to create a factory of industrial champions in the DRC

Webinar of Saturday 18 July 2020

As part of the first of the Makutano Sixtieth Anniversary Webinars, 4 international experts, namely Kako Nubukpo, macroeconomist (Togo), Paulo Gomes, co-founder of New African Capital Partners (Guinea-Bissau), Eric Kacou, economist, co-founder of ESC Partners (Côte d'Ivoire) and Nicolas Kazadi, Roving Ambassador of the President of the Republic (DR Congo), analysed the situation of Congolese industry by setting out the constraints that hold back its expansion, the opportunities that could trigger its development and the challenges that constitute actions to be carried out in the short and long term that would enable the country, that is to say the DRC, to have its own "factory of champions".

This debate was moderated by 3 Congolese CEOs, namely Yves Kabongo, CEO of KBG Capital, Marlène Ngoy Mvidia, Chief Executive Officer of BGFI Bank, and Eric Monga, President of the FEC/Katanga, CEO of Trade Services and developer of the Kipay dam. At the end of these discussions, everyone's ideas were organised into points so as to facilitate an understanding of the problems of Congolese industry and of the prerequisites to be considered, in practical terms, to facilitate its emergence.
